MUFClazer vs. Newton Heath + Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway FC

Does anyone know why Man Utd fans are wearing green and yellow scarfs?

It's a protest aimed at the current owners of Man Utd, the Glazer Family.

The green and yellow scarves were the colours of Newton Heath Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway FC, the original founding team of MUFC, before they went bust in 1902.

It's a nod back to the days when the club was mostly about the fans concerns, not the concerns of the Glazers.

The chant 'green and gold til the club is sold' is a protest intending to say to the Glazers 'we won't buy your shirts, we won't buy your products, we're here for the club not your wallet'

They intend to wear them until the Glazers sell up, which from a financial perspective, isn't likely to happen. The Glazers can fleece United for as much cash as they like, they won't give it up very easily.
